Additional Notes 97 Old Fort Road, Shoreham-by-Sea consisted of two 5-compartment bodies, one of the only remaining examples of what was once 'Bungalow Town', a settlement set up in the early years of the 20th century. Many of the residences were constructed from disused carriages, including redundant vehicles from the nearby London, Brighton and South Coast Railway Works at Lancing after it opened in 1912 (second additional photo shows a carriage being moved from there to the site), but these two were ex-London, Chatham and Dover Railway. 08/23: site cleared and carriage bodies broken up. A door salvaged from one of the carriages carries the number 3088, a 5 compartment third built 1884-1889.
