Additional Notes Car K. 39T. Rebuilt from Kitchen Third. Loaned LNER 1942-6. P 1963, DVR to 1970, then Tyseley, then Sea Containers; then to Steamtown 1980. Resold (partly dismantled) to Bluebell 1984, moved 1986. Extensively dismantled, tarpaulined: awaiting restoration - 08/15 in sidings behind Horsted Keynes station. 10/17: body under restoration at Horsted Keynes; underframe has had new gusset plates and headstocks fitted, and 300 replacement hot rivets. 08/19: internal restoration work in progress. 11/19: in addition to restoration in progress on sliding lights, recent work has included fitting the southern gangway faceplate and buffers. Guard's compartment is being retained, but brake van area has been changed, that space now instead providing wheelchair access, with electric lifts fitted. 01/24: restoration completed and (04/24) now in traffic in 'Golden Arrow' dining train.
