| Additional Notes | Built as Pullman Parlour First. Remodelled as Third Class Guard Parlour Car No. 208 in June 1947. Remodelled c.1951 for use with the new "Golden Arrow" "U" class cars, now having square windows. 30/01/65: part of formation of Sir Winston Churchill's Funeral Train (lead vehicle on the journey from Waterloo). Ran up to 9th April 1969 when car became defective with a loose tyre - did not run again in service after that date. Official withdrawal date has been quoted as 07/70. Car body then into use as Bar at 'The Pullman' Inn, Cressing, Essex. Then at 'Orient Express' restaurant, Elsenham (with BR Mk 1's 4474 and 86558). On underframe only, with no material below sole bar. 1988: all three to Glenlo Abbey Hotel, nr Galway. The only Pullman in Ireland now. Largely original interior, some changes to exterior (notably some doors have been replaced), with all in very good order. |
