Additional Notes Dating from before the First World War, the Beach Estate at Pagham, near Bognor Regis originally consisted of holiday homes largely created from redundant railway carriages. These gradually became permanent homes, especially in the 1930s, and were extended by various additions. Around 70 carriage bodies survive and are believed to be from a range of former railway ompanies, including LBSCR, SER, SECR, LSWR, GWR, Midland, North London, Pullman and LNWR. Bungalows range from "at risk" to renovated and on market at £400,000. Some of them have their own records on this Survey (qv). NB Please note and respect that all are private residential properties! 12/17: following the demolition of one of the bungalows, SER 2159 and an SER 4-compartment brake third contained within the property have been moved to Bluebell Railway (qv).
