Additional Notes 1 of 5 convict carriages built for Peterhead Harbour of Refuge Works Railway to transport convicts to Stirling Hill Quarry from HM Convict Prison, Peterhead. All 5 have survived: this one along with a second grounded body (qv) at Keyhead near Crimond; one in the garden of a private residence at Inveran, Castle Road, Maud (qv); one formerly at the prison but now restored at Maud Railway Museum (qv); and one (to a slightly different design) as a store shed at Netherton of Logie, nr Crimond, Aberdeenshire (qv). (The fate of two other vehicles - an officers' inspection saloon (nicely varnished) and a prison guards' van (similar to the prisoners' vans but with larger windows short cabin and end verandas - is unknown). 2017: This body, the other one at Keyhead and the one from the private residence at Maud were all acquired by the Peterhead Prison Museum and the decision was taken to make one good complete body from the three, using the half body from Maud, half of one of the ex-Keyhead bodies plus parts from the remainder of that one and from the other.
