Additional Notes Manson brake. P 1967 by SRPS, at Falkirk till 1988. Pooley. 'To be left alone - work needed'. Good. Messing in Romney Hut (though be replaced as such - too many volunteers!). 08/17: major project nearing completion to restore this vehicle to original GSWR 1901 condition. Given its exceptional importance, a forensic approach has been adopted, with all features carefully recorded and photographed. This has enabled the reproduction of such equipment as door handles and door operating gear. Original GSWR paintwork has been discovered, believed to be the only surviving example of this. At the moment, the roof and interior are complete and the body structure has been largely restored and is in undercoat. Some panelling and mouldings to complete before painting. 11/18: this project is in the final stages: vehicle has been painted, with G&SWR original paint retained on the exterior and in the inside; one side and both ends are fully lined and lining is in progress on the other side; completion is expected in Summer 2019. 09/19: restoration complete; carriage moved from workshop into the Museum of Scottish Railways; it has also been returned to full operating condition; nearly all the original material has been preserved and reused - there is very little plywood and fittings have been replicated from originals.
